Residential Premium Proxies in plain English

Residential Premium is a selected part of our residential pool. The IPs still belong to real home broadband connections, but they are picked one at a time for the sites that turn ordinary residential addresses away.

At $6.99 per GB it costs more than any of our other types, so it is not where most people should start. Standard residential works on most sites; premium is for the awkward few that keep saying no.

Behind the scenes, every proxy type works the same basic way. Your browser or app sends each request to our server, our server passes it on to the website, and the reply comes back to you along the same path, so the website only ever sees our IP address. Each order lasts 30 days, and the choice of HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 is yours.

Quick start in 3 steps

You don't need a server or any special software. If you can change a setting in your browser, you can do this.

1

Settle on an amount of data

Each order lasts 30 days, so pick an amount you'll use in that time. Unsure? The proxy calculator gives you a rough figure.

2

Pay first, set up after

The premium order form only asks how many GB you want. After paying, the country, the protocol and sticky or rotating are all chosen in your dashboard, under My Plans → Proxy Configuration.

3

Paste the details in

Open the proxy settings in your browser, app or script and type in the four details from your dashboard: host, port, username and password. Then visit our My IP tool: if it shows the proxy's address rather than yours, you're connected.

Which type should I pick?

A simple rule: use the lowest-priced type that works on the sites you visit, and only move up when you have to. Here is a quick check for this page, then all four types side by side.

Residential Premium Proxies suit you if…

  • ✓Standard residential IPs keep getting refused on one particular site.
  • ✓Each failed attempt costs you time, so paying more per GB for fewer of them makes sense.
  • ✓You want the same choices as residential (country, city, sticky or rotating) from a selected set of IPs.

Pick another type if…

  • →You have not tried standard residential yet. Start there: it costs less and works on most sites.
  • →Your sites accept server traffic. Datacenter is far cheaper per GB.
Type 1 GB costs How far sites trust it Speed Source of the IPs Good for
Datacenter Proxies $2.49 Good Very fast (1 Gbps) Servers in data centres First projects, scripts and SEO checks
Residential Proxies $3.98 High Fast Home broadband lines Sites that turn away server IPs
Mobile 4G / 5G Proxies $4.98 Very high Fast 4G and 5G phone networks Phone apps and social platforms
Residential Premium Proxies This page $6.99 Very high, hand-picked Fast Hand-picked home lines Sites that refuse standard residential

Torn between two types? Price the same job for each in the proxy calculator and compare.

Four things to have ready

You probably have the first one already. The other three are simple choices, explained below.

1. Something with proxy settings

Most web browsers, many apps and the usual coding tools have a place to enter a proxy. If you write code, our proxies also work with tools such as these:

Scrapy Puppeteer Playwright Selenium cURL Python Requests Node.js Axios

Free tools and setup help →

2. A way to log in

Username and password. Works from any network, so it suits a laptop or phone whose own IP address changes as you move about.

IP whitelist. You register your own IP address and the proxy lets you in without a password. Best for a computer that keeps the same address. You can change your choice later in the dashboard.

3. The right protocol

A protocol is the "language" your app uses to talk to the proxy. HTTP and HTTPS cover normal websites (our HTTPS proxies page explains more). SOCKS5 can carry other kinds of traffic as well, which some apps need; see SOCKS5 proxies. You get all three with any plan, and moving from one to another in the dashboard costs nothing.

4. A place to appear from

Choose from 55+ countries, and a city in the bigger markets. On datacenter and mobile you pick it on the order form; on residential and premium you pick it in your dashboard after paying. Handy for seeing local prices, or for viewing your own website the way visitors abroad do.

Look through the countries →

Same IP, or a new one each time?

This setting decides whether your address changes between requests. A request is simply each page, picture or file your browser or app asks a website for.

Rotating: a fresh IP each time

Each request leaves from a different address. That suits looking through lots of separate pages, such as a long list of prices. There is more on our rotating proxies page.

Sticky: one IP for a while

You keep one address for a set time. Choose this for anything where you stay logged in or click through several pages in a row. If you want an address that doesn't change at all, read about static proxies.

Mistakes beginners make, and how to avoid them

Each of these wastes either money or an afternoon, and all of them are easy to sidestep.

Buying more data than you'll use

Every order lasts 30 days from payment, and whatever is unused by then simply expires. Start small and top up when you need more.

Using rotating IPs for a login

If your address changes halfway through signing in, the site may log you out. Use a sticky session for anything that keeps you logged in.

Whitelisting the wrong IP

The whitelist only lets in the address you registered. Move to another connection, say a café's Wi-Fi or your phone's data, and you'll be refused until you add the new address in the dashboard or switch to username and password.

Not setting a country

Skip it and your IP may come from a country you didn't mean to use, so local prices and search results look wrong. Set it before you start, on the order form or in the dashboard.

Expecting a proxy to change the rules

A proxy changes the route your traffic takes, nothing more. Each site's terms still apply, and logging in tells a site who you are whatever your IP.

Tip: test it on one site first

Buy a small amount of premium first and test it on the one site that needs it. If it works, keep that site on premium and leave everything else on cheaper types.

Is using a proxy allowed?

Usually, yes. In most countries proxies are legal to use, and people use them every day for ordinary things such as checking prices, testing websites, research and privacy. The proxy itself is rarely the issue; what you do through it can be.

Two sets of rules still apply to you: the law where you live, and each website's own terms of service. Our acceptable use policy spells out what is never allowed on our network, including fraud, hacking, spreading malware and harassment. Please read it before you start, not after something goes wrong.

About the IPs themselves: they are on our network by agreement with the people and companies they belong to, and we don't keep a record of the sites you visit through them. That privacy is there for ordinary, lawful use. It never covers breaking a site's rules.

Beginner questions, answered

Do I need premium, or will standard residential do?

For most sites, standard residential works and costs less. Premium is for the few that keep refusing ordinary residential addresses. Our advice: start with standard residential and move only the stubborn site across.

When do I choose the country for premium proxies?

After you order. Once the purchase goes through, you pick the country in your dashboard, and you can narrow it to a city where we cover one.

I've never used a proxy. Is it hard to set up?

Not really, and there is nothing to install. After you pay, your dashboard lists four details: a host (the proxy's address), a port number, a username and a password. Enter them wherever your browser, app or script asks for proxy settings and you're connected. We also send a confirmation email with a link straight to your dashboard.

How exactly am I charged?

By data, not by time. Pay-as-you-go data costs $6.99 per GB on this page, and the hours you spend connected cost nothing. You pay for an order once, and you then have 30 days, counted from the moment the payment clears, to use it. It doesn't renew, and any GB you haven't used by then expire instead of moving to your next order.

Can I test it without spending much?

Yes: keep your first order small. Start with 1 GB, check that the proxy works with your browser or app, and only buy more once you're happy with it.

With a proxy on, can websites still tell it's me?

Websites see our IP address in place of yours, and we don't log the sites you visit. A proxy won't make you invisible, though. Logging in, cookies and your browser itself can all tell a site who you are, and its rules still apply to you.

What if something doesn't work?

Contact support. Real people answer at any hour, every day of the year. Open a ticket from your dashboard or use the contact page, and tell us which proxy type you bought and what you were trying to do.

Start small, top up later

Pay, and your login details are ready in the dashboard. Nothing renews behind your back. Got a friend who needs proxies too? Refer them and you earn 10% commission on every order they pay for.

Residential Premium proxies are the cleanest, highest-trust tier in the Budget Proxies network, built for demanding work where a stable, well-kept IP matters. Routed through carefully vetted residential connections with low historical abuse, they offer genuine ISP ownership and accurate geolocation. At $6.99/GB on pay-as-you-go billing, they cost more than standard residential, but for quality-critical jobs they can pay back that premium in fewer failed requests.

This page explains exactly what Residential Premium proxies are, how the pool is sourced and rotated, and when paying the premium is worth it versus standard residential, datacenter or mobile. You will find setup guidance, geo-targeting options, rotation versus sticky session advice, realistic performance expectations, and a frank look at where this tier earns its keep and where a cheaper option would serve you just as well.

What Residential Premium proxies are and how they work

Residential Premium proxies route your requests through real residential IP addresses assigned by consumer internet providers, but drawn from a smaller, more tightly curated pool than standard residential. Every IP in this tier is screened for clean history, stable geolocation and low prior abuse, so the addresses you receive are less likely to carry someone else's bad history.

Mechanically the flow is the same as any forward proxy: your client connects to a Budget Proxies gateway, authenticates, and the gateway forwards traffic out through a residential exit. The target sees a residential ISP IP, not yours. What sets the premium tier apart is the quality and reputation of those exits.

  • Curated, low-abuse residential IPs only
  • Consistent, accurate country and city placement
  • HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 support
  • Username-password or IP-whitelist authentication

The result is residential-grade trust from a smaller, better-kept pool.

When premium residential is worth it

Most sites are perfectly happy to accept a standard residential IP. A minority are not. Some sites, such as large retailers, search engines and social networks, check IP reputation closely, and many of them also restrict automated access in their terms. On those sites a recycled IP with a poor history can fail before your request even loads, so check what each site's terms allow before you start.

Residential Premium exists for work where IP quality matters, such as checking your own listings and ads or monitoring public prices. Because the pool is curated for clean history and the addresses see lighter rotation across customers, they arrive at the target with a clean slate far more often.

You should reach for premium when standard residential is not reliable enough for a specific, permitted task, not as a default. For everyday scraping, account work on forgiving sites or price monitoring, standard residential at $3.98/GB often does the job just as well for less per GB.

Setting up your first premium connection

Getting started takes minutes. After purchasing a gigabyte allowance, your dashboard shows the gateway host, port and credentials for the premium pool. Point your client at the gateway and authenticate with either your username and password or an IP-whitelisted address.

A typical credential string looks like host:port:username:password, with targeting parameters appended to the username field. Most HTTP clients, browsers and scraping frameworks accept this directly.

  1. Copy the premium gateway host and port from your dashboard
  2. Choose authentication: username-password or IP whitelist
  3. Add country or city targeting if required
  4. Select a rotating or sticky session endpoint
  5. Send a test request and confirm the exit IP via My IP

Delivery is instant, so you can validate a connection the moment you top up. Keep your allowance in view: premium consumes the same byte counter as other tiers, just at a higher per-gigabyte rate.

Tools and integrations that work out of the box

Residential Premium proxies are protocol-standard, so anything that speaks HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 works without special connectors. There is no proprietary client to install and no SDK lock-in.

Common pairings include headless browser stacks such as Puppeteer, Playwright and Selenium; scraping libraries like Scrapy, requests and HTTPX; and desktop tooling including multi-profile browsers and account managers. SOCKS5 support is particularly useful for non-HTTP traffic and for browsers that proxy at the socket level.

Tool typeRecommended authNotes
Headless browsersUser-passwordUse sticky sessions per profile
Scraping frameworksUser-passwordRotate per request for breadth
Multi-profile browsersSOCKS5Only for accounts the platform allows

For deeper, target-specific guidance see proxies for scraping.

Rotating versus sticky sessions

Residential Premium supports both rotating and sticky sessions, and choosing correctly is often the difference between a smooth run and a broken one.

Rotating sessions assign a fresh exit IP on every request. This spreads load across the clean pool and suits broad data collection where each request is independent, such as gathering pricing or search results.

Sticky sessions hold the same premium IP for a set window, typically up to ten minutes, so multi-step journeys keep a consistent identity. Logins, checkouts, cart operations and anything tied to a session cookie need a sticky IP, otherwise the target sees the session jump networks mid-flow and may log you out.

  • Use rotating for high-volume, stateless reads
  • Use sticky for authenticated or multi-step actions
  • Keep one sticky IP for each account you are allowed to run

Learn more about each mode on our rotating proxies and static proxies pages.

Country and city targeting

Premium exits are available across 55+ countries, with city-level targeting where pool density allows. Accurate geolocation matters in this tier because many sites localise pricing and content by region, so the right exit country gives you the right results.

Append targeting to your authentication string, for example a country code such as gb, us or de, optionally with a city. The gateway then restricts your exit to matching premium IPs.

  • Country-level targeting in every supported region
  • City-level targeting in higher-density locations
  • Stable geo placement, ideal for localisation testing

Because the premium pool is smaller, very narrow city targets may offer fewer simultaneous IPs than standard residential. If you need maximum geographic breadth at the lowest cost, compare options on the locations page before committing your spend to a tight target.

Speed, latency and performance expectations

Residential routes add latency because traffic travels through a consumer connection rather than a datacenter backbone. Premium does not change physics, but it does change consistency: curated exits tend to be more stable than the long tail of a general residential pool, so you see fewer dead connections and timeouts.

Realistically, expect a little more round-trip time than datacenter proxies and comparable latency to standard residential. The win is not raw speed, it is success rate. A premium request that completes first time beats three datacenter retries that all fail.

TierLatencyTrust
DatacenterLowestLow
ResidentialModerateHigh
Residential PremiumModerateHighest

Our network runs on 99.9% uptime, so gateway availability is rarely the bottleneck; the target site usually is.

Trust, reputation and realistic expectations

Anti-bot systems score an incoming request on dozens of signals, and IP reputation is one of the heaviest. Residential Premium gives you clean ISP ownership, low historical abuse and consistent geolocation, but it is still one signal among many.

That said, no proxy makes you undetectable, and none changes a site's rules. The IP is only one layer. Sites also look at browser fingerprints, TLS signatures, request timing and behaviour, so automation a site does not allow will still be stopped.

  • Check each site's terms before you automate anything
  • Throttle request rates so you never strain a site
  • Keep sessions geographically consistent
  • Avoid hammering a single endpoint from one identity

Budget Proxies keeps no activity logs, so your traffic content is not retained. Treat premium as a better-quality IP, never a guarantee against blocks.

Pricing and where the premium pays off

Residential Premium is $6.99/GB, billed pay-as-you-go with a fixed 30-day validity on each top-up. There are no contracts, no monthly minimums and no commitment beyond the gigabytes you buy.

It is the most expensive tier for a reason, so spend it deliberately. The maths is about cost per successful request, not cost per gigabyte. On a demanding job where standard residential keeps getting refused, paying more per GB for a pool that gets through more often can work out cheaper once you count wasted retries and bandwidth.

TypePrice/GB
Datacenter$2.49
Residential$3.98
Mobile$4.98
Residential Premium$6.99

See the full breakdown on the pricing page and start with a small allowance to benchmark before scaling.

How premium compares to other proxy types

Choosing the right tier saves money and frustration. Each type trades cost against trust.

  • Datacenter at $2.49/GB is fastest and cheapest, ideal for open targets or sites that have allowed your IP, but the easiest to identify as a server.
  • Residential at $3.98/GB is the everyday workhorse, high trust at a sensible price, and the right default for most jobs.
  • Mobile at $4.98/GB carries the trust of carrier-grade NAT, useful for mobile-first apps and social platforms built around phones.
  • Residential Premium at $6.99/GB is our cleanest pool, reserved for permitted work where IP quality matters most.

A sound approach is to start on datacenter, move to standard residential if it does not do the job, and keep premium for the few permitted tasks that need it. Most workloads never need the top tier, which is exactly how it should be.

Scaling and best practices

Because premium bandwidth is costly, efficient scaling is about getting more value from every gigabyte rather than simply buying more.

  • Cache aggressively. Never re-fetch data you already hold; deduplicate URLs before dispatching.
  • Compress where possible. Request gzip and skip downloading images or assets you do not parse.
  • Match the tier to the endpoint. Route only the tasks that need premium through it and send the rest through cheaper pools.
  • Concurrency with restraint. Run parallel workers, but keep per-target rates modest so you never strain a site.
  • Monitor success rate, not just throughput. A falling conversion rate is the signal to adjust before you waste spend.

Distribute requests across the pool with rotation for breadth, and reserve sticky sessions for journeys that genuinely need continuity. With clean exits and disciplined pacing, a modest premium allowance goes a surprisingly long way.

Common mistakes and troubleshooting

When premium underperforms, the IP is rarely the culprit. The usual causes are configuration and client behaviour.

Frequent issues

  • Rotating when you needed sticky: multi-step flows break if the IP changes mid-session. Switch to a sticky endpoint.
  • Expecting the IP to do everything: a clean IP does not change how a site treats automated browsers. Check the site's terms allow automation before you continue.
  • Geo mismatch: a UK IP with a US account or site setting can return the wrong prices or language. Pick the exit country that matches the content you need.
  • Over-aggressive rates: flooding one endpoint strains the site and gets requests refused. Throttle.

Quick checks

  1. Confirm the exit IP and country with My IP
  2. Verify credentials and targeting syntax
  3. Test against a neutral site to isolate proxy versus target issues

If problems persist, our 24/7 support can help diagnose, and the FAQ covers the most common setup questions.

Security, compliance and responsible use

Residential Premium is a powerful tool and should be used within the law and within each target's terms of service. Budget Proxies provides clean infrastructure; you remain responsible for what you do with it.

Legitimate uses include market and price research, brand protection, ad verification, localisation and QA testing, and authorised security assessment. Always respect robots directives, rate limits and applicable data-protection law, and never use proxies to access systems you are not permitted to access or to circumvent protections in violation of a platform's terms.

  • Stay within target terms of service and local law
  • Handle any collected personal data lawfully
  • Secure your credentials and rotate them if exposed

We keep no activity logs, which protects your privacy but does not exempt you from responsible conduct. Nothing here guarantees evasion of bans or blocks; premium improves your odds, it does not license abuse.

Real-world workflow examples

To make the tier concrete, here are workflows where Residential Premium earns its price.

Limited-release retail monitoring

Tracking public stock and pricing on a high-demand release, within the retailer's terms. Use rotating premium for the catalogue sweep, then a sticky session to follow a product page through to availability checks.

Localised search results at scale

Checking region-specific results where the search engine's terms allow it. City-targeted premium exits return accurate local rankings for each market.

Account-based testing on social platforms

Testing your own workflow on a social platform with accounts you are allowed to use. Give each permitted account one sticky premium IP and hold it for the session.

In each case the pattern is the same: reserve premium for the specific step that needs it, lean on standard residential for everything else, and measure conversion to confirm the spend is justified.

More questions

Choose premium only when standard residential falls short on a particular job that the site's terms allow. For most jobs, standard residential at $3.98/GB performs identically for far less.

They are $6.99/GB on pay-as-you-go billing with a fixed 30-day validity per top-up and no contracts. See the pricing page for all tiers.

No. Premium gives you the cleanest IPs and materially better odds, but blocking depends on fingerprints, timing and behaviour too. No proxy guarantees evasion of bans.

Yes. You can hold the same premium IP for a session window for logins and checkouts, or rotate per request for broad reads. See rotating proxies.

Premium exits cover 55+ countries with city-level targeting where pool density allows. Check the locations page for current coverage.

Not meaningfully. Latency is similar to standard residential and higher than datacenter; the premium advantage is a cleaner, more stable pool, not raw speed.

HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, with either username-password or IP-whitelist authentication. Most browsers, scrapers and multi-profile tools work out of the box.

No. Budget Proxies keeps no activity logs of your traffic content. You remain responsible for using the proxies lawfully and within each target's terms of service.
