Proxies in plain English

What a proxy is, and what it isn't

A proxy is a go-between for your internet connection. Your browser or app sends its traffic to the proxy, the proxy passes it on, and the website sees the proxy's IP address (the number that identifies a connection online) instead of yours.

That's useful when you want to see a site the way people in another country see it, check local prices or search results, test your own website from abroad, or keep your home IP out of a small project.

What it isn't is an invisibility cloak. Sign in to an account and the site knows it's you, a proxy won't make a slow home connection any faster, and every site's own rules still apply. For the longer version, our guide to what proxies are starts from zero.

Quick start in 3 steps

1

Choose a type and a place

Not sure which type? The guide just below helps. You then pick a country from the 55+ we cover: on the order form for datacenter and mobile, or in your dashboard straight after paying for residential types.

2

Buy a small amount of data

Set how many gigabytes you want and pay by card or crypto. There's no contract or setup fee. Each order lasts 30 days, so only buy what you expect to use in that time.

3

Paste in your login details

They appear in your dashboard as soon as payment clears. Copy them into your browser or app, then open our IP checker to see your new IP.

Four types, plainly compared

Which proxy type should I pick?

The four types get their IP addresses from different places, and that changes both the price and how websites treat your traffic. The first line of each card tells you when it's the right pick. A good habit: start with the lower-priced type that fits, and only move up if it isn't working for the site you need.

Can't decide between two? Buy a small amount of the cheaper one and try it on the site you have in mind. One account can hold several types, so adding a different one later is no trouble.

Your checklist

Four things to have ready

No special equipment and no technical background. If you can change a setting on your phone or laptop, you can set up a proxy.

Read the step-by-step setup guide →

A device with proxy settings

Most browsers, computers and phones have them, usually under network or connection settings, and some apps have their own.

An email account

You'll need it to sign up. After that, your orders and login details are kept together in your dashboard.

A way to pay

A debit or credit card, or crypto: Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT.

A rough idea of your data use

Video and image-heavy pages use far more than text. The proxy calculator helps you estimate.

The price of data

Priced by the gigabyte, with nothing added on top

What you pay for is data, and the table shows where each type starts per GB. There's no setup fee, no contract and no minimum spend. Residential also comes in bundles that cost less per GB as they get bigger, but every order lasts 30 days and unused data doesn't carry over, so a small order is usually the sensible buy while you're learning. For a rough total, try the proxy calculator.

Pay per GB, and that's it

You buy data by the gigabyte, from $2.49/GB. There's no setup fee, no subscription and no contract, so a small order costs exactly what the checkout shows.

Ready the moment you pay

As soon as your payment goes through, your dashboard shows the details your app needs to connect, so you can be online seconds later.

What 99.9% uptime means

Uptime is the share of time the network is working. Spare capacity spread over hundreds of subnets (blocks of IP addresses) helps keep it there.

A choice of 55+ countries

Choose the country, or the city, that your traffic should appear to come from. On residential and residential premium you can change it in your dashboard whenever you like.

Three protocols, all included

HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 are protocols: the "languages" apps use to talk to a proxy, and every plan includes all three. To sign in, use a username and password, or add your own IP to an approved list (an IP whitelist).

24/7 help from people

Stuck on a setting? Real people answer support messages at any hour, and they'll talk you through it one step at a time.

Where your IP can be

Popular countries and what they cost

Choose a proxy type, then click a country to go to its order page. With residential and residential premium, you set the exact country in your dashboard after buying. All 55+ countries are listed on the locations page.

Easy mistakes to avoid

Six beginner slip-ups, and the simple fix for each

None of these is a disaster, but each one can waste money or an evening. Each card says what goes wrong and what to do instead.

Paying for more than the job needs

Residential Premium isn't automatically the right choice for a first project. Start with the type that fits and move up only if it isn't working.

Stocking up on data

Orders last 30 days, and unused gigabytes don't roll over. Buy a small amount, check how much you really use in the dashboard, then add more.

Not checking that it worked

After setting up, open our IP checker. If it shows the proxy's location instead of yours, you're connected.

Expecting every app to follow

Setting a proxy in one place doesn't mean everything uses it. Some apps have their own proxy settings, others follow your device's, and a few ignore proxies completely, so check each app you rely on.

Rotating IPs for logins

A rotating session hands you a new IP every so often, and a site can sign you out when that happens. For anything you log in to, a sticky session is the better fit.

Leaving testing until later

The 24-hour window for reporting a faulty proxy starts at delivery, so try new proxies as soon as they arrive.

Rules and the law

Am I allowed to use a proxy?

In many countries, yes. Just remember that the rules travel with you: anything that's against the law without a proxy is still against the law with one, and every site's terms still apply.

The details are in our acceptable use policy and our terms of service. If you're unsure whether something is fine, ask us before you start.

Your country's law

Some countries restrict proxies and VPNs. Check the rules that apply to you before you start.

The website's own rules

Many sites limit automated access, extra accounts or reuse of their data. Read the terms and stay within them, and where a site offers an official API (its own route for programs to fetch data), use that instead.

Our house rules

No hacking, fraud, spam or harassment, and no collecting personal data you have no right to. Accounts that break these rules can be paused or closed.

What we do on our side

We keep no logs of your traffic, and our residential and mobile IPs come from people who agreed to share their connection.

How we look after you

No star ratings here, just how we work

Budget Proxies is a young service. Rather than fill this space with star ratings, here's what happens once you buy, and how to tell us what you think.

No charges you didn't expect

Each order is a one-off payment for the data you chose. Nothing renews unless you switch on auto-renew for that order yourself.

A real person replies

Email us or use the contact form, day or night. Your question is answered by a member of the team, not an automated bot.

Faults put right

If a proxy won't connect or sign in, tell us within 24 hours of delivery. We'll replace it, or refund that part of your order if we can't.

Your honest review, welcome

Tried us? Tell us how it went, good or bad. Feedback goes straight to the people who run the service and helps decide what we fix next.

Your first questions

Things people ask before their first order

Yes. It's mostly copying and pasting: you take a few details from your dashboard (usually an address, a port number that goes with it, a username and a password) and enter them in the proxy settings of your browser, device or app. Then open the IP checker in our free tools to confirm it worked. If you get stuck, our support team can help.

Start small. Pages full of images and video use far more data than plain text, so how quickly you get through it depends on what you load. Buy a little, keep an eye on the usage figure in your dashboard, and add more gigabytes when you need them. Our proxy calculator gives a rough idea of the cost before you buy.

Each order lasts 30 days from the moment your payment clears, or ends sooner if you use up all its data. When the time is up, the order expires and any data you haven't used expires with it; nothing carries over. Orders only renew if you switch on auto-renew for that order in your dashboard. Otherwise, just place a new order when you need more.

Not on its own. A proxy changes the IP address that websites see, so your home IP stays out of view. But if you log in to an account, keep the same cookies or use a browser that's easy to recognise, a site can still work out it's you. Think of a proxy as a different front door rather than a disguise.

Yes. You can pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT through Cryptomus, our crypto payment provider. If you do use a debit or credit card, Stripe handles the payment. Whichever you choose, you pay for each order when you place it.

It depends on the job. A VPN usually sends all of your device's traffic through an encrypted tunnel. A proxy is usually set up in just the browser or app that needs it, so you can give one task a different country while everything else carries on as normal. Our proxy vs VPN guide compares the two in more detail.

Refer a friend

Recommend us and earn 10% of what they spend

Every account comes with a referral link. Pass it to a friend, a classmate or anyone starting a small project of their own, and you'll earn a commission on the orders they pay for.

Your own referral link

You'll find it in your dashboard, ready to share, next to a count of the people who joined through it and the commission you've earned.

Commission for life

Anyone who signs up through your link stays linked to your account, so their later orders keep earning you commission too.

Low-cost proxies for personal and small projects

Budget Proxies sells private proxies to people who need a modest amount of data: students, hobbyists, small online sellers and anyone trying a proxy for the first time. The network targets 99.9% uptime and supports HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. You can sign in with a username and password or whitelist your own IP, and your login details appear in the dashboard the moment a payment lands.

We keep the range to four types (datacenter, residential, mobile and residential premium), all paid for by the gigabyte as you go, from only $2.49/GB and with no setup fee. You decide how much data you want, which country and which session type, and every order stays valid for 30 days. IPs are sourced ethically and we don't log your traffic. Look over the full preços or go straight to comprar proxies.

Residential proxies: see what locals see

Your requests leave through real home internet connections, chosen by country or by city. You can rotate (take a new IP every so often) or hold a sticky session (keep one IP for a while). Because the addresses belong to ordinary households, websites generally treat the traffic like any other home visitor, which suits checking local prices, search results and adverts. From $3.98/GB. Read more about our proxies residenciais.

Datacenter proxies: the low-cost starting point

When keeping the bill small is what counts, datacenter proxies are quick and inexpensive. They're a good match for collecting public pages from simple sites, checking that your own website is up, and light automation. At $2.49/GB they're the entry point of our range. Find out more about our proxies de data center.

Mobile and residential premium: for fussier sites

Mobile proxies use real 4G and 5G carrier IPs, which websites tend to trust more than the other types, so they suit phone apps and social accounts you manage yourself, from $4.98/GB. Residential premium, at $6.99/GB, is a cleaner residential pool for sites where standard residential struggles, with fewer failed attempts. Still have questions? Our Perguntas frequentes answers more of them, and our compromissos de privacidade explain how we handle your details.

Choosing the right proxy starts with matching the network to the job, not just hunting for the lowest price. Budget Proxies offers four clear tiers on a single pay-as-you-go model: datacenter from $2.49/GB, residential from $3.98/GB, mobile from $4.98/GB and residential premium at $6.99/GB. Every plan bills purely on the gigabytes you use, with a fixed 30-day validity window, so there are no monthly subscriptions, no port fees and no surprise renewals.

Each tier ships with the same toolkit: HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 support, username-password or IP-whitelist authentication, rotating or sticky sessions, and country and city targeting across 55+ locations. Delivery is instant, uptime sits at 99.9%, and our team is on hand 24/7. This guide explains how the four proxy types differ, when to reach for each, and how to configure them so you only pay for what you actually need. Browse the full preços breakdown or jump straight to a type below.

What proxies are and how the four tiers differ

A proxy routes your requests through an intermediary IP so the target site sees the proxy address rather than your own. The four Budget Proxies tiers differ mainly in where those IPs come from, which changes both cost and how a site perceives the traffic.

  • Centro de dados IPs live in cloud and hosting facilities. They are fast and the cheapest at $2.49/GB, but easiest to identify as non-residential.
  • Residencial IPs belong to real home connections via consenting ISPs, so traffic leaves from an ordinary household line, at $3.98/GB.
  • Mobile IPs come from 4G/5G carrier networks at $4.98/GB and carry the strongest trust signals.
  • Residential premium at $6.99/GB draws from a cleaner, less-used pool for the most demanding targets.

See each pool in detail on the datacenter e residencial pages.

How pay-as-you-go per-GB billing works

Instead of buying a monthly seat or a fixed number of ports, you buy a balance of gigabytes and draw it down as you browse. Every byte of upstream and downstream traffic that passes through the proxy counts toward your balance, and the meter only moves when you send requests.

Each top-up carries a fixed 30-day validity window. Within that window you can spread usage across any tier, any country and any number of concurrent connections without extra charges. There are no port fees, no per-thread pricing and no auto-renewing subscription.

This model rewards efficient scripts. A scraper that requests only the HTML it needs, skips images and compresses responses will stretch a gigabyte much further than one that loads full pages. Because the rate is fixed per tier, your spend is predictable: multiply expected gigabytes by the tier rate. Review live rates on the preços page before you commit a budget.

Choosing the right tier for your workload

The cheapest tier that reliably completes your task is usually the right one. Start low and only move up if the lower tier does not do the job.

For research-style data gathering, our proxies para scraping guide maps common sites to tiers. Always confirm a target's terms permit automated access first; tiering reduces friction but never licenses activity that a site forbids.

Setting up your first proxy in minutes

After a top-up, your dashboard generates credentials instantly. Setup follows the same pattern across all four tiers.

  1. Pick an authentication method: username-password works anywhere, while IP-whitelisting suits fixed servers.
  2. Choose a protocol: HTTP/HTTPS for browsers and most libraries, or SOCKS5 for lower-level tools and non-HTTP traffic.
  3. Select segmentação geográfica by appending a country or city to the username, or leave it global for the widest pool.
  4. Decide on rotação: a rotating endpoint gives a fresh IP per request, a sticky session holds one for minutes.

Paste the resulting host, port and credentials into your client and send a test request to our IP checker to confirm the exit address and country. If the displayed IP matches your target location, you are ready to scale up.

Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 explained

All tiers speak HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, and the right choice depends on your client and traffic type.

HTTP and HTTPS proxies understand web requests, which lets them handle headers and connection reuse cleanly. They are the default for browsers, headless automation and libraries like requests or axios. HTTPS here refers to proxying TLS-encrypted traffic via CONNECT tunnelling, so your payload stays encrypted end to end.

SOCKS5 operates at a lower level and forwards raw TCP and UDP without inspecting the protocol. That makes it ideal for non-web traffic, custom clients, peer-to-peer tooling and any case where you want the proxy to stay protocol-agnostic. It also supports DNS resolution at the exit, avoiding local DNS leaks.

If you are unsure, start with HTTPS for web work and switch to SOCKS5 only when a tool requires it. Compare the two in depth on our SOCKS5 e HTTPS pages.

Rotating versus sticky sessions

Rotation controls how often your exit IP changes, and the right mode depends on whether the target expects a stable identity.

Rotating endpoints assign a new IP on every request (or every few requests). This spreads load across the pool and suits broad data collection where each request stands alone, such as fetching thousands of product listings.

Sticky sessions pin one IP for a configurable duration, typically up to ten or thirty minutes. Use these whenever a workflow spans multiple steps under one identity, including logins, multi-page forms, carts and any flow that sets cookies you must keep consistent.

A common pattern is sticky for the authenticated portion of a task, then rotating for bulk reads. You set the mode per request via the endpoint or username suffix, so a single balance covers both. Read more on rotating proxies e static sessions to match the cadence to your tooling.

Geo-targeting across 55+ countries

Every tier lets you pin traffic to a specific country, and most support city-level targeting too, so you can see exactly what a local user would. This matters for price comparison, localisation testing, ad verification and checking regional availability.

You target a location by adding a country code, and optionally a city, to your proxy username, for example a UK or US suffix. The endpoint then routes you through the matching pool. Leaving the suffix off draws from the global pool for maximum IP diversity.

Coverage spans 55+ countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia and beyond, with the deepest residential and mobile pools in high-demand markets. Datacenter coverage is broad but concentrated in major hosting regions. Always verify your exit location with the IP checker before a run, since a mismatched country will skew localised data. Full country and city availability is listed on the locations page.

Speed, latency and throughput by tier

Raw speed and home-network trust pull in opposite directions, so each tier balances them differently. Datacenter proxies are the fastest because the IPs sit in well-connected facilities with short network paths, making them ideal where milliseconds matter, such as rank tracking or internal load testing.

Residential and mobile traffic travels over real consumer and carrier links, so latency is naturally higher and more variable. Mobile in particular can fluctuate with cell congestion. The trade-off is worthwhile when a target inspects IP reputation, because speed is useless if requests get blocked.

To maximise throughput on any tier, reuse connections, run sensible concurrency rather than hammering a single IP, and request only the data you need. Our 99.9% uptime means the bottleneck is usually the target site, not the proxy. If a job is latency-sensitive yet still needs residential trust, the premium pool offers cleaner, more responsive IPs than the standard residential tier.

Trust signals and what a proxy can't change

Sites assess incoming traffic on more than the IP, but the IP's origin is the strongest single signal. Datacenter ranges are published and widely catalogued, so security systems flag them quickly. Residential and mobile IPs map to consumer ISPs and carriers, so they carry the everyday trust those networks earn.

The proxy only changes your apparent network identity. Browser fingerprints, request headers, cookies and behavioural timing all still matter, and a proxy does not change a site's rules or the way it detects automated traffic. Budget Proxies keeps no activity logs, so your usage is not retained or shared.

Anonymity is a tool for legitimate privacy and research, not a licence to bypass protections a site has deliberately put in place. We cannot and do not guarantee that any tier will evade a specific site's defences; reputable IPs simply reduce friction for permitted, terms-compliant access. Choose the lowest tier that meets your need and move up only when the task genuinely requires it.

Pricing and value across the range

The four rates reflect how scarce and trusted each pool is. Putting them side by side shows where the value lies for a given task.

TierPreçoIdeal para
Centro de dados$2.49/GBHigh-volume, speed-led work
Residencial$3.98/GBMost public-web data with trust signals
Mobile$4.98/GBApp and carrier-gated content
Residential premium$6.99/GBQuality-critical jobs needing a clean pool

Because billing is per gigabyte with a fixed 30-day window, cost scales with data, not seats or threads. A lean script on residential often beats a wasteful one on premium for total spend. Estimate gigabytes first, then pick the cheapest tier that completes the job. The preços page has the live figures and top-up options.

Datacenter vs residential vs mobile: a direct comparison

The three core networks suit different jobs, and knowing their trade-offs prevents overspending on trust you do not need.

Centro de dados wins on speed and price but is the easiest to identify as non-residential, so it shines on permissive or self-owned targets. Residencial sits in the middle: real home IPs give strong trust for a modest premium, making it the everyday choice for public-web data. Mobile tops the trust ladder because carriers rotate IPs among many subscribers via CGNAT, so a single address is shared by many ordinary users, which suits app-only ecosystems.

Latency rises as you move from datacenter to residential to mobile, while trust rises in the same direction. The practical rule is to start cheap and only climb when the lower tier does not do the job. Because all three share one balance and dashboard, you can test which performs best on your target without separate contracts. Compare them at datacenter, residencial e celular.

Scaling up and best practices

Scaling well is mostly about discipline, not raw IP count. As volume grows, these habits keep success rates high and costs predictable.

  • Spread load: use rotation for bulk reads so no single IP carries a heavy request spike.
  • Pace requests: keep a steady, modest rate and respect any rate guidance a site publishes; aggressive bursts strain a site regardless of tier.
  • Cache and dedupe: avoid re-fetching unchanged pages to save gigabytes and reduce footprint.
  • Match geography: target the country your data actually needs rather than the global pool.
  • Retry sensibly: back off on failures instead of retrying instantly with the same IP.

Monitor your dashboard for data burn and success rates, and split large jobs into smaller batches so a problem on one target does not drain your whole balance. With a fixed per-GB rate, efficiency directly lowers spend. For research workloads, the scraping guide covers concurrency tuning in more depth.

Security, compliance and responsible use

Proxies are legitimate infrastructure for privacy, testing and lawful data collection, but responsible use is your obligation. Before any project, confirm that the target site's terms of service permit your activity and that applicable laws, including data-protection rules, are respected.

Budget Proxies operates a no-logs policy, so we do not retain records of the sites you visit. We support secure authentication via username-password or IP-whitelisting, and HTTPS and SOCKS5 keep your payloads encrypted in transit. Keep credentials private and rotate them if you suspect exposure.

We do not condone using proxies to access systems without authorisation, to harvest personal data unlawfully, or to circumvent protections a site has intentionally erected. Nothing here guarantees evasion of bans or blocks; choosing a trusted tier only reduces friction for access that is already permitted. Used within these bounds, proxies are a safe and standard part of modern web operations. See our Perguntas frequentes for policy details.

Real-world workflows you can build today

Seeing how the tiers combine in practice makes the choice concrete. Here are three common patterns built on one Budget Proxies balance.

Localised price monitoring: use residential proxies with country and city targeting to capture region-specific pricing, scheduling runs across markets and verifying each exit with the IP checker.

Search and SEO checks: lean on fast datacenter IPs for high-volume rank and SERP snapshots where the targets tolerate non-residential traffic, keeping per-GB cost minimal.

App ecosystem testing: route mobile-only flows through the mobile tier so carrier-gated content behaves as it would for a real handset, using sticky sessions to preserve logins.

Each workflow mixes rotation modes and geos as needed, all billed from the same gigabyte pool. Start with a small top-up to validate a workflow end to end, then scale the gigabytes once your success rate is solid. Pricing for every tier is on the preços page.

Key terms explained

Pay-as-you-go (per GB)
A billing model where you buy a balance of gigabytes and spend it on traffic as you use it, rather than paying a fixed monthly subscription.
Datacenter proxy
An IP hosted in a cloud or hosting facility, offering the fastest speeds and lowest price but the easiest origin to identify as non-residential.
Residential proxy
An IP assigned to a real home internet connection through a consenting ISP, giving traffic strong everyday trust signals.
Mobile proxy
An IP drawn from a 4G or 5G carrier network, shared among many subscribers at once via CGNAT.
Sticky session
A configuration that holds a single exit IP for a set duration so multi-step workflows like logins keep a consistent identity.
Rotating proxy
An endpoint that assigns a fresh exit IP on each request or every few requests, spreading load across the pool for bulk data collection.
SOCKS5
A low-level proxy protocol that forwards raw TCP and UDP traffic without inspecting it, suitable for non-web clients and DNS resolution at the exit.
Geo-targeting
Selecting a specific country or city for your exit IP so you see the web exactly as a local user in that location would.

More questions

Begin with the cheapest tier that completes your task and only move up if it falls short. Datacenter at $2.49/GB suits permissive targets, while residential at $3.98/GB is the safe default for most public-web data; compare them on the preços page.

Yes. Datacenter, residential, mobile and premium all support HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, plus username-password or IP-whitelist authentication. See the SOCKS5 page for protocol details.

You buy a gigabyte balance and traffic draws it down as you browse, with each top-up valid for a fixed 30 days. There are no port fees, no per-thread charges and no auto-renewing subscription.

Yes, every tier supports country targeting and most support city-level targeting across 55+ locations. You add the location to your proxy username and can verify the exit with our IP checker.

Rotating gives a fresh IP per request for bulk reads, while sticky holds one IP for minutes so logins and multi-step flows stay consistent. You choose the mode per request, and details are on the rotating proxies page.

No. A trusted tier reduces friction for permitted access but we never guarantee evasion of bans or blocks. Always confirm the target site's terms allow your activity before you begin.

Datacenter is fastest thanks to well-connected facilities, while residential and mobile carry higher, more variable latency in exchange for stronger trust signals. All tiers run on infrastructure backed by 99.9% uptime.

No, Budget Proxies operates a no-logs policy, so we do not retain records of the sites you visit. You can read more about our policies on the Perguntas frequentes page.
