Shekel prices, KSP and Yad2, and Shabbat hours: an Israeli IP explained
Shopping sites in Israel, from KSP for electronics to Shufersal for groceries, are written in Hebrew, read right to left and price everything in shekels. Through an Israeli proxy your connection appears to arrive from Israel, so you see those sites, and your own, as readers in Tel Aviv do. Nothing else about you changes: not your card, not your accounts.
Everyday reasons people pick Israel
Comparing what a laptop costs at KSP or Ivory with prices at home, checking grocery prices on Shufersal before a visit, browsing Yad2 flat adverts while planning a move, or making sure your blog shows the right language to Israeli readers.
Hebrew reads right to left
On Hebrew pages, menus and buttons may sit on the opposite side from where you expect them, because the text runs right to left. Your browser's translate option helps you follow along, and some Israeli sites offer an English version as well.
Time and the weekend
Israel is two hours ahead of UTC in winter and three hours ahead in summer. The weekend is Friday and Saturday, and many shops close from Friday afternoon until Saturday night for Shabbat, so customer service may not reply until Sunday.
What an Israeli IP will not change
A shop that delivers only inside Israel still delivers only inside Israel, whatever your IP says. Yad2's posting rules and every other site's terms still apply to you. Treat the proxy as a way to look, compare and test, not a way around a site's rules.
Simple first projects in Israel
Whatever you use it for, the law where you live and each website's terms still apply, and our acceptable use policy lists what we never allow.
The basics, in plain English
Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.
