Lei or RON, and why not euros? Romanian prices and listings for beginners
Much of Romanian online shopping happens on local sites such as eMAG, for almost anything, and OLX.ro, for second-hand. A proxy relays your browsing through a computer in Romania, so those sites usually show you what a visitor in Bucharest gets: prices in lei, Romanian delivery options and pages in Romanian.
Compare Romanian prices
Compari.ro lists prices from many Romanian shops side by side, and eMAG often runs its own deals. Through a Romanian IP you can line them up in lei, including any delivery cost to an address in Cluj-Napoca.
Look at local listings
OLX.ro is where many Romanians sell used items, from phones to flats, and Autovit.ro focuses on cars. Browsing them through a Romanian IP shows the listings as they appear in Romania, handy for checking whether an asking price you were quoted looks fair.
A Latin language on Eastern time
Romanian grew from Latin, so if you know Italian or Spanish you may recognise some words, and it adds letters such as ฤ, รฎ, ศ and ศ. Romania runs on Eastern European Time, so a sale that starts at 9am in Bucharest starts at 8am in Berlin.
Rules that come with you
A Romanian IP doesn't give you somewhere for an eMAG parcel to go: delivery still needs a real address in Romania, whether a home or an easybox parcel locker, and a payment method the shop accepts. Read eMAG's own terms before you order; they apply to you either way.
Simple first projects in Romania
Whatever you use it for, the law where you live and each website's terms still apply, and our acceptable use policy lists what we never allow.
The basics, in plain English
Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.
