Hryvnia prices, Ukrainian letters and why your banking app stays off the proxy
A Ukrainian IP address, the numeric address every site sees when you connect, makes Ukrainian sites treat you as a visitor in Kyiv or Lviv: shops list prices in hryvnia and pages open in Ukrainian. That's handy if you've moved abroad and miss how sites look at home, or if you sell to Ukrainian buyers and want to see your listings through their eyes.
Everyday reasons to pick Ukraine
Ukrainians living abroad use it to browse Rozetka deals and OLX listings as they appear at home. Small sellers check how their Prom.ua shop looks to a buyer in Lviv. App makers try the Ukrainian version of their app before launch.
Telling Ukrainian from Russian
Both languages use the Cyrillic alphabet, but Ukrainian has letters Russian doesn't, such as і, ї, є and ґ. Spotting them tells you which version of a page you're on. Your browser's translate option can turn either into English.
What time is it in Kyiv?
Ukraine keeps Eastern European Time: UTC, the world's reference clock, plus two hours in winter and, for now, plus three in summer. If a shop announces a sale or a ticket release in Kyiv time, check the current time there before planning around it.
What it won't do
A Ukrainian IP changes where websites think you are, nothing more. It won't give you a Ukrainian phone number, a bank account or a Nova Poshta branch to collect parcels from, and it doesn't change what any website's terms allow, so read those before you sign up or buy.
Simple first projects in Ukraine
Whatever you use it for, the law where you live and each website's terms still apply, and our acceptable use policy lists what we never allow.
The basics, in plain English
Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.
