Blocket finds, BankID limits and Swedish time: seeing Swedish sites as a local would
Swedish websites have a few habits of their own: dates written year first, prices in kronor, and logins that expect a Swedish BankID. A Swedish IP address, the online address a website sees, lets you browse shops and classifieds such as Blocket the way someone in Stockholm does. It can't do anything about BankID, though.
Browse Blocket and Swedish shops
Blocket is where many Swedes buy and sell second-hand, and stores like Elgiganten sell in kronor to Swedish addresses. With a Swedish IP you see listings and prices as they appear inside Sweden, handy if you're helping a relative in Gothenburg furnish a flat.
Check a game or app from Sweden
Some games let you pick a Stockholm server, and some apps show different content in Sweden. A Swedish IP lets you see what a local player sees, but it adds an extra stop for your data, so it usually won't lower your ping.
Kronor and clocks
Sweden uses the krona, not the euro, so prices end in kr, with a comma before the รถre. Clocks run an hour ahead of London and an hour behind Helsinki, worth remembering when a sale starts at midnight Swedish time.
BankID stays out of reach
Banks and government sites in Sweden ask for BankID, an e-ID that Swedish banks issue to customers with a Swedish personal identity number. A proxy can't stand in for that, and sites such as Blocket keep their own terms, which apply whatever your connection looks like.

Whatever you use it for, the law where you live and each website's terms still apply, and our acceptable use policy lists what we never allow.
The basics, in plain English
Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.
