What Are ISP Proxies? Home-Registered IPs on Fast Servers

B By Budget Proxies team Plain-English proxy guides · Updated

Here's the idea: on paper, an ISP proxy is a home connection; in practice, it runs on a server. Its IP address is registered to a home internet provider, so websites treat it like a household, but it's hosted on fast servers in a data centre, so it has a server's speed and stability. It also keeps the same address the whole time. You'll sometimes see ISP proxies called static residential proxies, where "static" simply means the IP doesn't change.

Need one steady, trusted address? Three steps to sort it out here:

  1. Work out how long you need the same IP: for one task, or for as long as your order runs.
  2. For a single task, such as logging in and checking a few pages, switch on a sticky session. Every plan includes it.
  3. For high-trust work beyond that, read our ISP proxies page, which points you to residential premium.

We don't sell ISP proxies as a separate plan, and the last section explains what you can buy instead. Is this allowed? Like every proxy, ISP proxies are for legitimate tasks that stay within each site's terms of service.

On paper a home line, in practice a server

Here's how that odd combination comes about. A hosting company obtains a block of IP addresses that are registered under a home internet provider. When a website checks who owns one of those addresses, using its ASN (the label that names the owning network), the answer is a home provider, so the IP earns the trust a residential address would. Physically, though, the address lives in a data centre on fast links it doesn't have to share. The result is a home-looking address with server-grade speed and reliability, plus a static IP that won't change for the whole of your order.

The three things an ISP proxy gives you

  • Trust like a home connection. The ASN belongs to a home internet provider, so protected sites see a household rather than a server.
  • Speed like a server. Pages come back quickly, which is called low latency, and large amounts of data move easily, which is called high throughput.
  • An address that stays put. The IP never rotates, which suits sessions that expect every request to come from the same place.

The two main types each give you only part of that. Datacenter proxies are fast but less trusted, and rotating proxies residenciales are well trusted but slower, and their IP changes often.

ISP next to datacenter and residential

Read across the table and you'll see ISP matching residential on who the address is registered to, and matching datacenter on where it runs. For a closer look at the two high-trust options, read ISP vs residential proxies.

Who actually needs one?

If you're only reading public pages, you don't need a fixed IP at all, and rotating proxies suit that job better. An ISP proxy makes sense when you need a trusted address that won't change halfway through what you're doing:

  • Staying logged in, so the whole session comes from one address.
  • Looking after a single business account from one unchanging address, following the platform's rules.
  • Fast visits to protected sites, when residential feels too slow and datacenter isn't trusted enough.

One honest caveat: an ISP proxy, like any proxy, can't decide how a platform treats an account. Each platform's terms always apply.

Can I buy ISP proxies here?

Not as a separate plan. We sell four plans: datacenter, residential, mobile 4G/5G and residential premium, and our ISP proxies page points to residential premium for high-trust work. Every plan supports HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5, you can sign in with a login or by whitelisting your IP, and delivery is instant across 55+ countries. If what you mainly need is one steady IP while you're logged in, the sticky sessions included with every plan keep an address for a set time. Compare all four plans on the página de precios, estimate your usage with the proxy calculator, or buy now.

Questions beginners ask

An IP address registered to a home internet provider but hosted on fast servers in a data centre. Websites treat it like a home connection, it runs at server speed, and its address doesn't change.
ISP stands for internet service provider, the kind of company that sells home broadband. The proxy's IP is registered to one of those companies, which is where the name comes from, even though the IP itself runs in a data centre.
Yes, the two names describe the same idea: an IP registered to a home provider that stays fixed instead of rotating. It's highly trusted, and it runs on fast servers rather than on a real home connection.
Not as their own plan. Our plans are datacenter, residential, mobile 4G/5G and residential premium, and for high-trust work the ISP proxies page sends you to residential premium. Sticky sessions on every plan let you keep one IP while you're logged in.
Usually not. If you're reading public pages, rotating proxies are simpler. If you only need one address while you log in and do a task, a sticky session on any plan covers it. An ISP proxy suits a trusted address that has to stay the same for much longer.
