Olive Young, PASS checks and ticket law: Korean sites without the jargon
K-pop fans, beauty shoppers and small sellers abroad often want to see Korean shops, fan stores and app pages exactly as people in Seoul do, with won prices and Korean text. A South Korean IP address handles that part, since Korean sites judge your location from it. The big limit: many Korean services verify identity through a Korean phone, which no proxy can supply.
Olive Young, Karrot and fan stores
Checking Korean prices for skincare on Olive Young, browsing second-hand finds on Danggeun, known abroad as Karrot, or viewing a K-pop label's online shop as fans in Seoul see it when a new album drops.
Identity checks
Korean sites often confirm who you are through your mobile carrier, using apps such as PASS, before you can join, buy tickets or post. That needs a Korean phone number in your name; a proxy alters nothing but your IP, so that step stays closed.
Korean time and Hangul
Korea's clocks stay at UTC+9 through every season; summer time was last used around the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Hangul, the Korean alphabet, builds each syllable from simple letters, and machine translation does a fair job of turning Korean pages into English.
Ticket macros and resale law
Since 2024, Korean law has made it illegal to resell concert tickets bought with macro software. That law, and every ticket site's terms, apply whatever IP you use, so buy tickets yourself through the official seller.

The basics, in plain English
Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.
