Game editions, local checkouts and Taipei time: a Taiwanese IP for everyday browsing

Taiwanese shopping sites such as momo and PChome show prices in New Taiwan dollars, written NT$, on pages in Traditional Chinese. A Taiwanese proxy, a server in Taiwan that collects pages on your behalf, lets you see those sites, local news editions and your own shop page as a visitor in Taipei would. Paying is where it stops, since many Taiwanese checkouts want a local mobile number.

Prices, news and your own shop

Maybe a friend in Taipei offered to buy you a gadget and you want to see the momo or PChome price first. Or you'd like the Taiwan edition of a news site, or need to check how your own shop page looks to a visitor there.

Traditional characters and Taipei time

Taiwan uses Mandarin written in Traditional Chinese characters, which differ from the Simplified ones used in mainland China; browser translation can help with most pages. Clocks sit on UTC+8 all year, so there is no summer time change to work around.

Games: set your expectations

Many mobile games release a Traditional Chinese edition for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Which edition you can install usually depends on your app store country and account rather than your IP address, so a proxy rarely changes it.

Local checkouts stay local

A Taiwanese IP changes your apparent location, not your rights. momo and PChome still ship only to the addresses they accept, sign-ups that text a code to a Taiwanese mobile number still need one, and the law where you live keeps applying.

Whatever you use it for, the law where you live and each website's terms still apply, and our acceptable use policy lists what we never allow.

The basics, in plain English

Websites read your IP address, your connection's number online, to work out where you are. A proxy lends you one of ours from the country you pick; your language settings, clock, card and delivery address stay as they are, and sites you sign in to still know it's you.

  1. Choose a type and a small package below.
  2. Copy your login details from the dashboard into your browser, phone or app. HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 all work.
  3. Open our My IP tool to check the location websites now see.

Taiwan proxies: first-timer questions

Seeing NT$ prices is one thing, paying is another. The proxy only changes where websites think you are; checkout still depends on your card, billing address and the shop's own rules, and many Taiwanese stores expect a local phone number or a convenience-store pickup point.
No. Your browser's built-in translation turns most Traditional Chinese pages into readable English, though product names and local slang can come out oddly. When a price or delivery detail matters, compare the translated text with the original page before you rely on it.
Start small: packages begin at 1 GB, and each order lasts 30 days, used or not. Text pages use far less data than video or downloads.
Tell us within 24 hours of delivery. We'll swap it for one that works or, if we can't, refund that part of the order. Used data can't be refunded.
